Invalid Workout 4 Meets Tabata

Last night I got home and went right to it. Tabata training with the medicine ball doing push ups for 8 sets. Then I used the medicine ball again and did sit ups for 8 sets. All of that was Tabata intervals. The push ups were good (although on knees) and I feel the muscles aching today like an old friend come back to stay. I finished with some ab wheel and pull ups. Tabata is great for a quick workout. I plan to do neck at a later day of this week.

Hopefully Wednesday will see my cast taken off. I am so tired of hopping around and itching to get back to jiu-jitsu. Every morning I listen to Fightworks podcasts to get me worked up and keep my mind thinking about training.

Invalid Workout 3

I listened to the podcast tonight on the way home. The guy was talking about specific exercises to help BJJ. He mentioned pull ups being the best which was cool since that's what I did a lot of last year. Also, neck muscle workouts were his no. 1 suggestion for anyone doing BJJ. I got home tonight and did the usual workout, pull ups, medicine ball and ab wheel. Felt good. At the end I added a few neck exercises because I definately need to build strength up there. Glad I decided to do something instead of feeling sorry for myself.

Invalid Workout 2

Ok so my foot is getting better. I slipped a little tonight in the dark and put too much weight on it but crossing my fingers that it hasn't undone any healing so far. Only 2 weeks to go before I get the cast off hopefully. I listened to fightworks podcast this morning while driving to work. A guy called Steve Maxwell who is 57 and is a black belt in BJJ. He was one of the first I think. The guy is in amazing shape and was talking about how to train kids. It inspired me enough to get a workout tonight. Same thing of pull ups, knee push ups, crunches and medicine ball. Anyway here is a vid of him doing some pull ups. It is hard to believe that the guy is 20 years older then me.

Invalid Workout 1

So I went to jiu-jitsu last night and watched the guard passing techniques. I picked up a few pointers I had missed on Tuesday (when I broke my foot). When I got there, the guys were really cool, carrying my crutches and stuff while I took a seat on the mat. Yasushi a young white belt is really improving. It will be hell when I get back to training and his triangles. I also borrowed some DVDs. A set of 3 by Daniel Moraes.

After I got home last night I did a workout which consisted of 3 rounds of pull ups, abs and push ups. I have to do the push ups from the knees so I use a plyo push up off a medicine ball to up the intensity. It wasn't a bad workout. Took me about 30 minutes but I can tell I need to do more pull ups because my arms have got weaker since P90x. At the end I also did some left leg specific exercises like leg raises and standing lateral raises. It hasn't been a week yet but I can feel the muscle of my left leg feel more loose and sort of sagging like I haven't used them.

Back to work tomorrow which will be hell. When I went on Friday all the people seemed to pretend to be asleep on both the bus and train and not give up a seat. Miserable bastards. I expected it though. I have to take a bath now. That in itself is a task. Everything takes twice as long to do on crutches. I'm already getting bruised and calluses from the crutches. God knows how old people manage to get around with these things because it requires lots of energy.
